Thanks to John Williams for these pictures from Newport, Isle of Wight, taken on 17 September, the national day of action in support of Vestas workers. The man being marched away by police was one of those charged in connection with the protest in Southampton on Tuesday; he was being arrested in Newport for being in breach of his bail condtions – wrongfully, we feel and we are following this up. Hopefully, the picture shows what a lot of people have put into conducting this dispute, which, after all, is just about defending people’s right to a job, and in the cause of preventing climate change.
If you haven’t yet been able to join the blade blockade, please think about doing it now. If coming from outside the Isle of Wight, you can find details of transport on the ‘Get involved’ page. Thank you.
