There has been a lot of activity by the Marine Gate in the last 24 hours, with police and security stepping up their interventions. But the workers and campaigners at the Vestas factory in Newport, Isle of Wight are hanging on and digging in. This morning they erected a tripod at the Marine Gate and are taking it in turns to occupy it (see picture).
They need reinforcements as the police and security are becoming humourless, and the company is likely to try and move the blades sooner rather than later. If you can go down and want more details, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The campaign has come a long way and the day of action on Thursday 17 September will be an important political occasion. But the main act at the moment is the blockade on the Isle of Wight. If you can visit or raise money to assist someone else to visit or stay there, please let us know. Thank you.
For updated information on getting to the Island and other useful information for the day of action on 17th September see the ‘Get Involved’ page.
