Support Vestas workers day of action, 17 September: keep it green on the Island

The Vestas workers and their supporters are gearing up for the second national day of action on Thursday 17 September. There are events all around the country, and education is a big theme, with the new schools pack out (see separate post).

On the Isle of Wight itself, a march has been planned. Assemble 12.30pm, Church Litten Park, Newport. March to County Hall.

In the evening, workers and supporters will meet for a drink in the Chicago Rock Cafe, Newport from 7.30pm. Mike Godley, one of the occupiers, explains:

There is a national day of action coming up on Thursday the 17th of September. We are asking everyone to Keep it green! Wear green for the day, give your emails a green background, and any other ideas you may have, all in support of the Vestas workers and what we are trying to achieve. In the evening we are having a drink at Chicago Rock in Newport where everyone is invited, see the flyer attached, the theme is also Keep it Green and there will be prizes for the best Green fancy dress including a PLAYSTATION 3! So get thinking about costume ideas, feel free to bring people along with you and we’ll see you there!
