National Day of Solidarity with Vestas Workers
Wednesday 12 August
Good luck everyone! Make it a good day!
Send in your reports and pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If there is nothing organised near you, it’s not too late to organise something! Make a poster saying ‘Save Vestas’; download the information leaflet for the public, run off some copies; and go and leaflet in your town centre, outside the nearest Jobcentre, vegetarian cafe, or wind turbine manufacturer… you get the idea!
Keep up the pressure on the government. So many of us have emailed Ed Miliband that he has shut down his email box (why isn’t he making himself available to hear people’s point of view?). So let’s turn the heat on Mandelson! He is looking way too relaxed after holidaying in Corfu with some of the richest people in the world.
The best we can provide in the way of email addresses for the Rt. Hon. Lord Mandelson, First Secretary of State, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Lord President of the Council is to direct you to leave a message here: http://www.bis.gov.uk/contact-us/ministers-1. You know how it is, the more important you are, the harder you are to reach. If anyone can find a better way to reach Mandelson, please (please!) share it in the comments box!
Call for the government to step in and nationalise the Vestas plants on the Isle of Wight, in order to save green jobs: the promised massive expansion of renewable energy needs people skilled in the technology and manufacture of wind turbines – well, here they are already, 600 of them, on the Isle of Wight, and we are fighting to save their jobs!
Don’t let these people’s skills go to waste on the dole!
This is a fight for jobs and for renewable energy, it’s a fight for the future of all of us. Pull out all the stops. Save Vestas, save jobs, save the planet!
