Letter from a supporter with some quotations to ponder

Hello Vestas workers – a friend has just returned from visiting you and I’ve been watching footage from your occupation down there in the Isle of Wight – and I’m totally inspired by what you’re up to – KEEP IT UP!

I hear you had an unexpected fish and chip delivery and I hope you’ve been receiving plenty more tasty food to keep you happy. I’m about to disappear to Northumberland for a week, but when I return to London I’m happy to support you if there’s things I can do from here?

I really believe that what you’re doing can make a difference to us all in the future – we’re so locked into accepting power structures in the workplace that we rarely stop to challenge them and think of inspiring alternatives – I’m all for collectives and co-operatives, and I’d love to see the Vestats Factory setting the tone for many others to follow.

Here are some quotes to inspire you….

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.
– Elie Wiesel

They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.
– Andy Warhol

In order to change we must be sick and tired of being sick and tired.
– Author unknown

He who has hope has everything.
– Arabian Proverb

Hope is a state of mind, not of the world. Hope, in this deep and powerful sense, is not the same as joy that things are going well, or willingness to invest in enterprises that are obviously heading for success, but rather an ability to work for something because it is good.
– Vaclav Havel

Hope is like a bird that senses the dawn and carefully starts to sing while it is still dark.
– Anonymous

When a resolute young fellow steps up to the great bully, the world, and takes him boldly by the beard, he is often surprised to find it comes off in his hand, and that it was only tied on to scare away the timid adventurers.
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.
– Eleanor Roosevelt

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world. The unreasonable man adapts the world to himself. All progress depends upon the unreasonable man.
– George Bernard Shaw

Sending all love and strength to you all

Rose
