The Footprint Trust was set up in 2003 to reduce the Isle of Wight’s ‘ecological footprint.’ The charity has supported proposed wind turbine applications and been working to reduce fuel poverty by promoting insulation of island homes. http://www.footprint-trust.co.uk
“Climate change and future energy supplies are issues that must be addresses now. The Footprint Trust supports wind technology and other renewables. Wind power is proven technology that is available now. Other technologies, such as tidal turbines, may be available within the next decade or so. In the meantime large scale solar and wind projects must be embarked upon. Changes must be made in planning regulations to allow renewables technologies within AONB’s, National Parks and Conservation areas.”
Said Footprint Trust’s General Manager Ray Harrington-Vail.
Ray used his day off supporting the Vestas workers by attending the rally at Newport County Court on Wednesday.
“I personally support the occupation of the factory and am deeply disappointed at the closure of this plant. It gave young skilled people the hope of real jobs in a growth industry which helps the planet rather than harms it.”
said Ray speaking in a personal capacity.
